Bolts threads are determined by, 2x the diameter + ¼”, and have a small washer face under the head.

GRADE 2: Low carbon hex head steel bolt, usually has no head markings.	GRADE 5: Through hardened hex head steel bolt, denoted by a head marking of 3 lines.	GRADE 8: Through hardened hex head steel bolt and stronger than grade 5, denoted by a head marking of 6 lines.
STAINLESS: A hex head bolt, typically 18-8 (300 series stainless) corrosion resistant, denoted by a head marking of 2 lines.	HEX TAP BOLT: Fully threaded hex bolts, no washer face under the head.	CARRIAGE BOLT: A round head which has no drive, It does have a square or ribbed neck.
HEX LAG BOLT: A low carbon hex bolt with a wood screw thread.
